A brilliant three-dimensional 14k Washington monument charm, with a twist! This charm features a Stanhope lens- a tiny peephole containing a microphotograph. The lens was invented by Charles, the 3rd Earl of Stanhope in the late 18th century. Stanhope charms were commonly used in travel souvenirs beginning the mid-1800's through the 1970's and can be hard to find in good condition today. When you peer inside this one, you'll find a black and white map of the capital. A really awesome collector's piece!
